A huge old console television, acquired for $4 at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, gets repurposed as a sweet dog bed. Well done. To DIY, see Fried Okra blog.
Reminds me of this computer monitor turned into a smaller pet bed.

I HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS.

I find it ironic when people tell me I’m intolerant because I’m Mormon/Christian….

and then go on to describe my “weird-ass church that worships Joseph Smith and believes they are going to be eternal sex Gods and rule their own planets.” Oh and “Mormons hate black people and gay people and think that all women are good for is making sandwiches and getting pregnant.” Oh yeah and don’t Mormons have multiple wives and don’t they have weird rituals in their temples? Oh and you Mormons aren’t even Christian.

Seriously, I’M the one that’s intolerant? Give me a break.

No child deserves to live a life of being unwanted because the mother was not allowed an abortion. Also, abortions kill NO ONE. YOUR personal beliefs about when life starts do not trump science or the right a women has over her own body.

First of all, when did I ever say anything about when life starts? Second, my definition of when life begins is the same as the definition provided by scientists. (http://www.princeton.edu/~prolife/articles/embryoquotes2.html)  You can argue that because a zygote cannot survive outside the womb that it is not considered a human life, but “science” says a human life begins at conception. Using science to refute this just makes you look stupid. Of course, even two months before delivery most fetus’ cannot survive outside the womb, and many people argue that a fetus does not have rights until it can survive outside the womb. No scientist can determine when a fetus becomes a person, so it must be assumed that rights are provided for an unborn child at conception (see above if you failed to understand how this conclusion was made).

I believe a woman (and any man, for that matter) has every right over their own body. However, when a woman is pregnant, they also contain another body that is dependent upon the mother but is distinctly separate with it’s own unique set of DNA, organs, etc. They are then responsible for that body just as much as they would be responsible for that body if it was already born. The father has the same responsibility to protect the unborn child although since is not directly connected to him he has only a moral responsibility, not a physical responsibility over it until it is born.

Nothing I have mentioned is even remotely religious. Using scientific evidence and common sense, I can determine that having an abortion at any time during pregnancy is defined as ending a life. A life dependent on it’s host, but still a life.

And I agree that no child  deserves to live a life of being unwanted because of the mistakes of it’s parents. But because the mother could not have an abortion? That proposition is ridiculous. Besides the numerous options before conception that a mother/father has to prevent the responsibility of creating a human life, they also have options afterward. Yes, ADOPTION IS AN OPTION, as is having family and friends raise the child if the parents are incapable of that responsibility.

The problem with society today is the lack of responsibility and maturity. Sometimes you really do have to suck it up and admit that you screwed up, even with something as serious as potential life.

For all you pro-choice people.

Just because I am pro-life does not mean that I am against women’s rights. I’m not against a woman’s right to choose. I believe everyone can choose not to have sex. Everyone can choose to put a condom on. Everyone can choose to take a birth control pill. Everyone can choose to make their own decisions about their own life. However, when you’re talking about someone else’s life (current or future) that is not your choice. I don’t think the issue is found when the pregnancy is discovered. I think the real problem lies in the entire mindset of the individual. Of course if you are raped then abortion is a legitimate option only in the first trimester of a pregnancy. But if you have fantastic sex with some drop-dead gorgeous guy and get pregnant as a result of that? Well then, it sucks to be you. Maybe you should have thought of that before you had unprotected sex. And of course, in a perfect world the guy would never leave you behind to raise a child on your own. But in reality, if you have sex with a douche bag,  that won’t change when he finds out you’re pregnant.

In other words, if you have sex and get pregnant, it’s your own damn fault. Maybe you should have thought ahead and made sure one wild night was worth a lifetime of dedication.
